ink & texture

replicating Alice & Martin Provensen ink illustration style (in the back) and textured background

Trying a different style in my quest to cement and figure out mine.  This little experiments were quite fun.  Love the super thick and thin lines that gives it dimension and makes it feel a little like a print.

This was about discovering and using the shapes that were already there in the background, and adding a foreground.  The pig's 'it wasn't me!' look cracks me up, I want to know what he did.  Maybe he took the car for a spin without anyone in the barn noticing at first?

These little tiles made me reflect on how many times I try to reinvent the wheel, while there may be an easier way.  How I can build up on the things that I already know, noticing  what works.   I have to talk myself into making things easier because the message I told myself for years was 'it has to be hard, to be worth it', so on with the quest to change that.
