Expectations at 80%
The sound and feel of the pencil making a mark on paper is simply thrilling to me.
Basic, simple, a little messy, and not too dressed up.
In this drawing, the stark contrast of the dark ink, helped me bring the night sky inside.
My drawing was inspired by a Nonny Hogrogian illustration, where Nonny describes shapes with hatching and crosshatching, not always with a border line, but with shading. Those suggestions are captivating. See below.
I used to be the queen of unrealistic expectations. Now that I am aware, I can stop myself and call for help from my logical brain.
This 100 days exploration has streched me far and wide. But I am more comfortable making mistakes, I have even shown you many. The figure in my drawing could use a few tweaks, but I just had fun attempting the borderless shading. I had fun thinking of the late night at the laundromat on a hot summer day, folding slighly damp clothes and running away from a mouse. I like the learning, I like the memories.
So my expectations of perfection have changed, and the challenge is 80% complete.
