I learned a lot making this piece.  I knew I wanted a soft silhouette as a background, so watercolors were the first answer, little I knew that writing on top of a watercolored area doesn't work well.  My theory is that since the paper fibers have absorbed the water, the binder in the paper has been disturbed making it nearly impossible to write crisp letters (see picture at the bottom of the post).

So what was the solution?  Use acrylics as watercolors for the background figure.  I can almost picture the plastic part of this medium holding the paper fibers together, keeping its shape, in turn making it easier to produce the thin and thick calligraphic strokes. Success!

This scripture has served me personally and many of my family members in times of trial.  It was the way I could comfort those around me when they needed it.
